Flock

Flock, a fabric we frequently encounter, is also known as artificial velvet because it resembles velvet and provides a similar feel.

What Is Flock? What Does Flocked Fabric Mean?

Flock refers to finely cut or shredded fibers that are applied to surfaces such as yarn, fabric, paper, wood, metal, or walls using an adhesive coating method. Flock fibers range in length from 0.3 mm to 6 mm and come in various diameters and colors, made from materials such as cotton, rayon, nylon, and polyester.

What Are the Features of Flocked Fabric?

Flocked upholstery fabrics have been core textile products used in outerwear and home textiles since the 1960s. For outerwear and home textile applications, the flock layer typically consists of polyamide or viscose fibers, with a fiber length ranging between 0.5–2.0 mm. The base fabric is usually composed of polyester/cotton blends due to their moisture resistance.

Flocked fabrics are characterized by their vibrant, warm appearance and soft texture. Through special effect applications, patterned flocked fabrics can also be produced.
